Albert Schliem, age 96 of Beloit, passed peacefully into eternal life on Sunday, May 6, 2012 in his home. Albert was born November 22, 1915 to the late Alfred and Myrta (Sisson) Schliem in Browntown, WI. He attended South Beloit High School, class of 1933. Al enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps. on November 18, 1940 and served his Country as a Tech Sergeant until his honorable discharge on June 5, 1945. He married the former Catherine Rivera on April 7, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa. Al was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, VFW Post 2306, the Beloit Horse Shoe Club and various bowling leagues over the years. He was employed at Besley's and Bendix Corp in South Beloit as a Machinist and an Inspector for 32 years until his retirement in 1977. His Faith, his love for Catherine and the rhythm of music were constants in his life. Al played guitar in a Country Western Band, shared his musical talents with the Troops in Pearl Harbor and led a Harmonica Band in the Stateline area. He shared his life's passions with his son and his daughters recall "dancing on there Dad's feet as little girls." Al was a wonderful father, grandfather & great grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Schliem; his four children, Linda (Myron R.) Paulson of Beloit; Carl (Cindy) Schliem of Beloit; Sherrie Avitia of Milwaukee; and Connie (Jeff) Horwath of Oconomowoc; eight grandchildren, Ally, Erin (Jon), Joshua, Robin (Joe), Monica, Andrea, Michael & Autumn; thirteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant son, Neil, two brothers and two sisters.

Al's Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday May 11, 2012 at MESSIAH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1531 Townline Avenue, Beloit with Rev. Jason Reed officiating. Friends will be received on Friday at Church form 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following Al's service the cortege will proceed to Eastlawn Cemetery for Full Military Burial Rites & Interment. A memorial is being established in his name.
