MONROE — A Monticello man with numerous previous arrests has been charged with methamphetamine possession, as he was being served on a warrant.
According to a Monticello Police statement, the incident began at approximately 5:30 p.m., when officers responded to the 100 block of N. Main Street to attempt to take a citizen into custody for an “active arrest warrant.”
Police located Jerod E. Sandlin, 30, of Monticello, and he was taken into custody for a probation and parole warrant.
“During the officer’s contact with Sandlin, they located narcotics as well. Sandlin was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia,” said Police Chief Szvon D. Conway.
Sandlin was transported and incarcerated at the Green County Jail, police said.
Sandlin was convicted of 4th degree sexual assault in 2012, according to court records. And he pleaded no contest to a theft charge in 2022. Court records also indicate Sandlin pleaded no contest to a charge of tampering with ignition interlock device following an OWI.
Monticello police also said that, as with anyone who is arrested, the defendant is innocent until proven guilty in court.
