MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Finance and Taxation Committee:
Postponed increasing the city's contribution to the Greenwood Cemetery Association from $28,000 to $33,000 until the 2011 budget is discussed in about two months. Paul Hannes, a member of the association, was asked to return to the committee if the cemetery's fund cannot cover regular expenses for the next two months.
Discussed creating a 2011 Information Technology operational expense budget and capital outlay fund budget. The new account would manage the IT budgets from all departments.
Discussed creating financial management policies for fund balance and debt management, as advised by Ehlers and Associates. Cathy Maurer, city treasurer, will have Ehler's help to set up the policies for the committee to review.

Heard Mayor Bill Ross issue a proclamation for Children's Vision and Learning Month.
Voted unanimously to amend Monroe City Code on the powers and duties of the Historic Preservation Commission. This allows the city building inspector the authority to approve Certificates of Appropriateness to building owners in the Historic Preservation District.
Approved a $25 fee for Historic Preservation District Certificates of Appropriateness applications.
Authorized $18,725 to hire Gentz Electric, Inc. to perform city hall computer network rewiring and authorized $3,300 to buy necessary materials from CDW-G.
Approve $485,200.83 for payment of bills.
Approved special events for Green County Cheese Days, Monroe Lions Club Huber Bock and Blues Music Festival, and Emmi-Roth Kase Employee Picnic.
Authorized a no-parking zone in 1800 block of 13th Avenue.
Granted a sidewalk café permit to Pancho & Lefty's Tex-Mex Grill, LLC, and amended their alcohol beverage license to include the outdoor area.
Amended the alcohol beverage licensed for The Depot Sandbar, Inc. to include remodeled areas.
Approved a temporary change in premises description to add an outdoor beer garden for Turner Hall of Monroe, Inc. during Cheese Days.
Granted a temporary fermented malt beverage and wine license to St. Victor's Parish.
Granted a temporary fermented malt beverage license to Green County Beef Producers.
