What are the top issues facing this board/council and how would you resolve them?
Unfunded mandates are a severe and continuing problem for local governments. I cannot see them ever going away or even decreasing in this current climate. Another tough issue is the continuing reductions of state aid, state funds and federal funds. As they tighten their belts they pass their decreases onto the local governments to be the "bad boys" when we have to reduce staff and funding for our own budgets.
