Army Jazz Ambassadors will perform Oct. 27

MONROE - Tickets are available for a free performance of the United States Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors. The band, the official touring big band of the Army, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Monroe High School's Performing Arts Center.

The Jazz Ambassadors perform Big Band music from the 1940s to contemporary hits in a show designed to appeal to all ages. Their repertoire includes swing, Latin music, contemporary jazz, bebop, dixieland and patriotic selections.

The group travels thousands of miles each year, and has performed in all 50 states and internationally. Members are selected from leading conservatories, universities and professional groups in a highly competitive audition process. Many members of the Jazz Ambassadors have extensive civilian experience, including recordings; movie and television soundtracks; and performances with major jazz and popular musicians.

The performance is sponsored by The Monroe Times, and tickets are available at the newspaper's office at 1065 Fourth Ave. West, Monroe. Tickets can also be ordered by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to Jazz Ambassador Concert, in care of The Monroe Times, 1065 Fourth Ave. West, Monroe, WI 53566. There is a limit of four tickets per request.
