MONROE - Storms that came through Monroe on Wednesday did not allow the contractor to proceed with the scheduled night-time closure. The contractor is now planning on getting the work done tonight and Friday night. Parts of 8th Street from Wisconsin 69 to 1st Avenue will be closed over the next two nights.
In addition, the contractor has offered to continue night time work Monday and Tuesday nights to do some additional work, which means 8th Street will be closed. These night-time closures allow the work to be completed safely and efficiently while minimizing disruption to the many businesses and residents.
All businesses will have access off the side roads during these closures, which will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on those four nights. Please plan accordingly if your business is open during these hours.
- Ken Plowman is a senior engineering technician for Fehr Graham, which the city of Monroe hired to oversee the 8th Street project.
