DARLINGTON - Darlington Children's Theater will present three performances of the Broadway Junior production "Annie Junior," at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 8-9, and at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Darlington High School auditorium, 11838 Center Hill Road, Darlington. The production is from the book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and directed by Jacky Bergeson, Judy Boll, Steve and Candi Fitzsimons.
Based on "Little Orphan Annie" by permission of the Tribune Media Services Inc., "Annie Junior" tells of a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan (Alix Brandt). In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie (Meghan Vieth) foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt (Griffin Heinberg) and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks (Sam Johnson) his personal secretary Grace Farrell (Andrea Paisley) and a lovable dog named Sandy.
