JANESVILLE - Blackhawk Technical College's accounting students, along with their instructor Bill Burwitz, will once again be providing tax preparation assistance for area residents through early April. Program support is also provided by the Blackhawk Technical College Administrative Assistant program students and their instructor, Patti DeGarmo.

This free income tax assistance site is supported by both the US Internal Revenue Service and Wisconsin Department of Finance. Services are intended to help low income and elderly citizens file accurate and timely electronic tax returns. The Accounting students participating in the VITA site are trained and certified in tax preparation, and use electronic tax filing software to process tax return information to the IRS and state. Services are limited to common types of returns. Client information is handled in a confidential and professional manner.
