MONROE — The Green County Family YMCA is announced the selection of Luke Smetters as the Membership and Community Engagement Director March 9.
Smetters first moved to Wisconsin in December 2009 where he served as a pastor for six years at a nearby church. After recognizing the importance of taking greater control of his physical health, he declared to himself that he was going to do an Ironman race and went on to successfully complete his first race in August 2014. He has since completed six full Ironman races and is a regular participant at a number of other local races and triathlons. When he’s not training or racing, he’s a regular actor in local community theatre organizations.
He is passionate about helping people recognize the positive benefits of regular physical exercise and is one of the loudest cheerleaders for those working to improve their physical health. He has led group exercise classes and served as emcee for the Celebration of Champions event at the National Gymnastics Championships in 2019 in Wisconsin Dells.
Smetters has a uniquely creative vision and a vast experience in marketing. His official start date will be Monday, March 22.
