JUDA - Six members of the Juda FFA Chapter will be competing at the Wisconsin FFA speaking contests during the annual convention in June.

Jason Roth will represent section five in the prepared public speaking contest on June 16 in Madison against nine other members from around the state. Roth's speech is titled, "Is Supply Shrinking in the Agricultural Industry?" His speech was eight minutes long, and then he was asked questions about his speech by the judges for five minutes. Roth won the Sectional Contest held at Wisconsin Heights High School on March 9.

Juda FFA's Middle School Quiz Bowl team also won the sectional contest and will compete at the state contest. Team members are Quinton Kammerer, Emily Makos, Cole Mahlkuch, Jacob Mahlkuch and Brian McCullough. There were six teams at the sectional contest. Teams go head-to-head and are asked questions about anything to do with FFA. Three rounds of questions are asked to each team. Juda's team had wins against Stoughton, Albany and Clinton.

Juda FFA also had other students involved at the sectional contests. Jace Morris participated in the FFA creed speaking contest. He recited the FFA creed from memory and was asked three questions about it. Kelsey Cramer competed in the discussion meet contest where she and five other students discussed the topic of getting more young people interested in getting started in production agriculture. Jason Roth participated in the job interview contest. In the contest students write a cover letter and a resume pertaining to a job in which they are interested. A panel of judges then interviews these students on the job that they had chosen. Although the students will not be moving on in their respective contest area, they did place either first or second at the district contest which was held in New Glarus on Jan. 26.
