MONROE — For the past several years, the Green County Law Enforcement Administrators’ Association (GCLEAA) has sponsored the county-wide “Shop with a Cop” program. The program helps underprivileged kids have a Merry Christmas that they might not have had without the community’s help.

On a normal year, the Green County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments host “Shop with a Cop,” where several local children are picked up and taken on a shopping spree.

Due to COVID-19, things looked different in 2020. This year there were no rides in a police car, but instead the Sheriff’s office and police departments delivered gifts to local kids at their homes.

Also this year, the program was unable to take the Children to McDonald’s after Shop with Cop at Walmart. Fall Nationals is partnering with the police departments by adding to those gifts by providing $1,000. Each child received a $10 gift certificates for McDonalds.

Persons with any questions or would like to know more about the “Shop with a Cop” Program, contact Szvon Conway at the Monticello Police Department.
