MONROE - Daniel B. Thoman, Monroe, was recently promoted to sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Thoman is the son of Richard and Jane Thoman of Monroe. Thoman and his wife, Specialist Jennifer Thoman, are currently stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado and have a daughter, Alaina.

Both Daniel and Jennifer Thoman are military police and have served in Germany, as well as being deployed to Afghanistan.



COLUMBIA, S.C. - Army Reserve Pvt. RayShawn B. Kraus graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Kraus studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

Kraus is the son of Tina Kraus of County Road G, Rewey. He is a 2011 graduate of New Glarus High School.
