Senior Center Updates: July 2021
Senior Center

WELLNESS CENTER 

●  You no longer need to make an appointment

●  Members must change shoes before using the equipment.

●  Members must wipe the machine 

●  There are arrows on the floor marking the direction members need to follow when changing         equipment.

●  Face masks are strongly recommended, but not required.

●  The Wellness Center is for workouts only. There is no lounging area.

●  There is a 30-minute time limit on each piece of equipment when other members are waiting.

●  Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

●  We are accepting new memberships.

OUTDOOR EXERCISE CLASSES

These classes will be held outside at different locations throughout Monroe. All of the classes are drop-in, and you pay for each drop-in session. We will also have punch cards again. They are 10 classes for a cost. At the Senior Center Parking Lot WEST will be: Active 4 Life, Balanced Yoga, Chair Pilates, and Men’s Exercise. Yoga will be held at Twining Park by North Shelter, Dance Aerobics (Zumba) at Twining Park Tennis Courts. Finally, Water Aerobics will be at Monroe Swimming Pool. 


CHAIR MASSAGE 

Dates: Fridays, July 9  & 23, August 6 & 20, and September 3 & 17, 2021

Times: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (20 minutes)

Melissa Kieler is a Massage Therapist at Healing Notes here in Monroe. You will pay Melissa directly the day of your appointment. She accepts cash or check. MASKS REQUIRED. If you need to cancel, please call 

NO LATER than Wednesday prior to your appointment so we can fill your spot with someone from our waiting list. 


FOOT CARE WITH JULIE

Dates: Tuesdays, July 6, 13 & 20, August 3, 17 & 24, and September 7th & 14th, 2021 are the appointments that are available for the next 3 months of the year 2021.  Julie does have dates set up for the whole year of 2021 for appointments. If you need to cancel, please call us at least 24 hours in advance so we can fill your spot from our waiting list.

Times: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are around 30 minutes.

Your feet will be soaked, your toenails will be clipped and your heels and other rough areas will be exfoliated. You’ll also get a mini leg & foot massage, as well as a refreshing lemon mist.  

Senior Center Library is Open back up on the 2nd floor. We want to thank everyone who donated books and puzzles during the pandemic. And special thanks to Marilyn Kubly-Schmid, Ron Puritan and Janet Zee for all their hard work in getting the library back up and running. We have a table by the elevator for the returned books and puzzles.


Ping Pong, POOL

Table tennis (ping pong) will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00pm. Players must wipe down paddles when done, one person has to wipe down the table and ping pong balls.

The pool hall will be open from 9am to 4pm. Only 6 players at a time. No more calling in for appointments. 


Bingo & Flippo                        

●  Bingo is Tuesday, July 13th and Thursday July 15th at 1:00pm. This event will fill up quickly, so don’t wait to sign up. There is a limit of 24 people, and you can only sign up for 1 day only.

●  Flippo will be at 1:30pm on Friday, July 23rd. You have to bring your own deck of cards.


greatest hits with John Duggleby

Date: Thursday, July 8th 

Time: 1st show at 10am to 11am; 2nd show at noon to 1pm.

You can only sign up for 1 show and there is a limit to 25 at each show. 

John Duggleby returns to the Senior Center as “Yankee Doodle Duggleby”. He’ll lead a tuneful tour of red, white, and blue of our nation’s unique musical heritage. 


Stitch ‘n chat

Get your needles ready! Tuesday at 9 a.m. Get together to work on knitting, crochet, cross stitch, or other projects.


Memory wall

Share your memories with us. Just write up a short story memory you wish to share with others. Drop off at the Senior Center or mail in to us.


MOVIE TIME IS BACK

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, July 27th at 1:30pm.  We will be showing “The Art of Racing in the Rain.” A Formula One race car driver has 3 loves of his life: his wife, daughter and his dog. The dog is his best friend, who wants to be reincarnated into a human. Rated PG, run time is 2 hours 3 minutes. Seating is limited so call early to reserve you seat. 


Attention Veterans

We will be having a Veteran’s Luncheon

Date: on Wednesday, August 4th.from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Where: Twining Park – South Shelter (across the road from the band shelter)

Calling all veterans who are 55 years of age and over. Join us for a lunch of sandwiches, salads, chips, dessert and beverages. There is no need to sign up in advance. There is a suggested donation. We do ask that you not arrive before 10:45 a.m.

You are welcome to pick-up your copy of “THE RED BRICK AGENDA” at the Behring Senior Center to get more information. They are found inside the Front Lobby door in a basket or in the Wellness Center just inside the door.
