MONROE - Entries for the Wisconsin State Fair's first annual poster competition are due at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4. The Wisconsin State Fairtastic Poster Competition is an opportunity to celebrate and engage artists from throughout Wisconsin and showcase their work during the 2014 Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular, which will take place July 31 through August 10.

To submit art into the competition, entrants must submit a first draft sketch of their entry that features the "Wisconsin State Fair experience." The concept is open to interpretation, but may include a showcase of rides and games, a specific activity or place, a favorite animal, delicious food, other memorable tradition or a combination of Fair experiences. Entrants will also be asked to submit several existing additional portfolio items to be considered by the judges.

All interested Wisconsin artists ages 18 and older with a passion for the Wisconsin State Fair are encouraged to apply. Prizes include $400 stipend for the top four works of art to complete a second draft of initial sketch and $1,000 cash prize to the winner.

The Grand Champion of the Wisconsin State Fairtastic Poster Competition will be announced Wednesday, June 11. The winning poster will be displayed during the 2014 Wisconsin State Fair and featured on a commemorative poster available for purchase online and during the Fair. All proceeds from poster and postcard sales will support the Wisconsin State Fair Park Foundation.
