MONROE - Vincent Miles Wartenweiler is the recipient of the fifth annual William C. and Margaret L. Parmer Scholarship, which was created by Monroe resident Margaret Parmer, who saw a need to help students with the high cost of their medical school education.
The recipient must be from Monroe and be accepted or enrolled in medical school. Parmer's husband William Parmer passed away in 2005 and this was something they had often talked about doing.
Wartenweiler is a 2013 graduate of Monroe High School and is enrolled at the university of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy.
Upon completion of medical school, Wartenweiler's career goal is to be a hospital pharmacist, with an interest in mental and rural health.
The William C. and Margaret L. Parmer Scholarship Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. Selection for the scholarship is by the Monroe Fund Advisory Board.
