ORANGEVILLE — The Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater has announced its 2019 season, which will include a comedy, a children’s production, a Broadway review and the annual Christmas show.

The Orangeville theater will be performing the play “A Night at the Theater,” by Lawrence Casler from March 15 to 17. This comedy will feature four MRPDT favorites, including Ron Pallek of McHenry, Terrie Miller of Savannah, Sandy Sweitzer of Pearl City and Reynold Noland of Hanover. In the synopsis, Margaret and Stanley Locker and their friends, Donna and Walter Pace, are at the theatre for their weekly dose of culture. This week’s play is Hamlet. After they seat themselves, they incessantly chatter about themselves, their children, a dead friend and even occasionally Shakespeare’s play. Secrets emerge and friendships unravel.

The theater will be performing a children’s show; “Junie B. Jones is not a Crook” May 31, June 1 and 2. In the play’s synopsis, something terrible happened to Junie B. Jones at school. Someone stole her new furry mittens!

When Junie B. finds a wonderful pen of many colors, she should be allowed to keep it, right? Because finders keepers, losers weepers? The show is a heartfelt tale based on the best-selling book series by Barbara Park. Auditions for this show will be held in the spring, and children will be cast.

September 20, 21 and 22 are the dates of the Broadway Review. Music, dance, history and scenes from Broadway musicals from 1940 to the present will be featured in the revue.

Dec. 6, 7 and 8 will be the annual Christmas show to bring the audience into the holiday spirit.

A dessert will be served at all performance intermissions by the cast and crew, and MRPDT’s apple cider will be available.

Friday and Saturday night shows begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m. For the children’s production of, “Junie B. Jones is not a Crook,” performances will start at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night.
