MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has three “One Day” programs coming up.

Down on the Rieder’s Farm, sponsored by the Dan Rieder family: This program is for 3- to 12-year-olds from 1 to 2:30 p.m. July 30. Children will spend the afternoon on Rieder’s family farm while going on a hay ride weather permitting, feeding goats, ponies and calves and seeing animals such as ducks, chickens, peacocks, rabbits and kittens. They will see cows being milked and fed. Parents should drop off and pick up their children at W5478 County DR just north of Monroe. Parents are welcome to stay, but it’s not necessary unless the child is 4 years old or younger.

Under Construction and Totally Trucks, sponsored by Monroe Truck Equipment: This program is for 3- to 10-year-olds from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. July 31 at Northeast Park. Each child will design a hard hat to take home with them and see a backhoe and different trucks. They can dig in the dirt to find buried treasures, toss foam wood blocks in a wheel barrow and try out the obstacle course dodging the orange cones.

Let’s Paint and Partake in Slushies, sponsored by Coplien Painting: Several projects with paint will be available, such as: “Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh; “Red Poppy” by Georgia O’Keeffe; “Number 8” by Jackson Pollock; or “Several Circles” by Wassily Kandinsky. This program is for 6- to 12-year-olds and will be held from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. Aug. 2 at Union Presbyterian Church, 2707 5th St.

Children may register online or at the temporary office in the Streets Department, 1064 5th Ave., across from PDC.
