MONROE — Monroe Theatre Guild (MTG) will present Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn on the Colony Brands stage this December. First time directors for MTG, Alex and Olivia Lentz, are skillfully leading this full-scale musical production.
Alex, the Vocal Music Instructor at Monroe High School, and Olivia, the Communications and Community Outreach Manager for the Monroe Arts Center, share an impressive background in the performing arts. Their combined insights and remarkable ability to pass on their technical expertise to this gifted cast featuring actors from all walks of life, promise audiences can anticipate a memorable song and dance experience this holiday season.
Based on the 1942 award-winning movie of the same name, this new Broadway version of Irving Berlin’s musical Holiday Inn, is a fresh take on an old classic. The score includes Irving Berlin classics like “Blue Skies”, “Heat Wave”, “Shaking the Blues Away” and the beloved “White Christmas”.
Monroe Theatre Guild’s presentation of Holiday Inn, part of the Colony Brands performance series, is the final installment of their 2023 season. With 53 years of community theatre to their credit, having started the tradition in 1970, MTG is preparing to announce their much-anticipated 2024 Season to their members and the public later this month.
Performances at Monroe Theatre Guild are Dec. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m., Dec. 3 at 2 p.m., Dec. 7 and 8 at 7 p.m., Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Dec. 10. Ticket sales for Holiday Inn have been performing well.
