MONROE - Monroe Public Library invites everyone to celebrate National Library Week, April 11-17, by stopping by and discovering what's happening at your library.
Here is a sampling of what's currently happening at the at Monroe Public Library that you may want to see or ask library staff about: free use of live chat software that enables you to talk with and view any contact in the world who has access to supporting software and Internet connectivity; a comfortable reading area near the Large Print collection; an expanded service desk and book display shelving in the Youth Services Department; a newly implemented Teen Place; an exhibit of "library themed" books for viewing or checkout (you may be surprised by the books that include librarians and libraries); designated computers for summer school registration for use through April 16 during normal library hours; and informational materials on "Libraries for Real Life," a project offered in partnership with South Central Library System that provides library patrons with an opportunity to share unique stories about their own library experiences.
While visiting Monroe Public Library, take a look at the Monroe Hometown Jigsaw Puzzle. If this special puzzle hasn't been completed when you visit, feel free to add as many pieces as you can.
Don't hesitate to ask at the Information and Reference Desk if you need assistance in locating or using these or other library resources.
Don't forget to have a treat when you visit the library the week of April 11-17. Swiss Colony is providing patrons with cookies and petit fours in commemoration of National Library Week.
