MONROE - Monroe Arts Center will present a concert by members of the Monroe Youth Choir from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday in the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall at Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St.
Under the guidance and direction of Cindy Blanc, students auditioned in September to be selected to be part of the Monroe Youth Choir. Selected students immediately began semester classes and have been preparing for their public concert.
The purpose of Monroe Youth Choirs is to create a community of young musicians dedicated to musical learning and excellence. Through the study and performance of choral music, MYC nurture personal, musical and social development. The choir focused on learning basic music vocabulary, vocal technique, group singing skills and rehearsal behavior.
The members of the 2014 Monroe Youth Choir are Mackenzie Bechtolt, Madelyn Helland, Elli Riemer, Kalena Riemer, Ava Scace, Mya Scace, Elizabeth Threewitt, Quentin Vestin and Spencer Vestin.
The free concert is open to the public.
