Monroe: Screenings for diseases offered at Monroe Clinic

MONROE - Stroke, Abdominal Aneurysm, Peripheral Artery Disease are three serious conditions that can impair or end the lives of those they affect. Unfortunately, due to few or no symptoms, individuals most at risk for these conditions often don't know it until a catastrophic health event occurs.

To help people detect and take action again these potential health threats, Monroe Clinic has partnered with Life Line Screenings to offer screenings for Carotid Artery Disease/Stroke, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).

These screenings will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in Founders Hall (lower level of the clinic building) at Monroe Clinic, 515 22nd Ave., Monroe.

The cost for the screenings is $119 for all three screenings or $50 each, payable by cash, credit, or check. Those who are interested should make an appointment by calling (800) 779-6353 and referencing Monroe Clinic.

While these screenings do not represent a diagnosis and are not a substitute for an appointment with a healthcare provider, they can indicate if further medical consultation is needed. Screening services are best suited for individuals who have some of the common risk factors for Stroke, AAA or PAD.

Common risk factors include:

• high blood pressure

• tobacco use

• high cholesterol

• excessive alcohol use

• poor diet

• heart disease

• irregular heartbeat

• diabetes

• physical Inactivity

• obesity

• family history

• age (over 50)

People who experience symptoms of illness should make an appointment with their healthcare provider or, in cases of catastrophic health events such as stroke or aneurysm, call 911 immediately.
