MONROE - The Monroe Morning and Noon Optimist Clubs will hold the 2008 Monroe Bike Safety Rally from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 10, at the Monroe High School parking lot.
The bike rally is for area youth ages kindergarten through eighth grade. All participants must bring their own bicycle and helmet to ride through a series of obstacle courses. A new bike helmet may be purchased from the Monroe Safe Kids Organization.
Members of the Monroe Police Department, Green County Sheriff's Department, Green County EMS and The Monroe Volunteer Fire Department will also be on hand. The Optimists will offer free Brandon's Champion's Helmet I.D. kits and bike reflectors.
Course participants will be entered in a drawing to win one of 10 bicycles to be given away. A special program and bicycle give away will take place inside the MHS practice gym after the bike rally. All winners must be present at the time of the drawing.
