Discovering Antarctica
MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center is presenting Discovering Antarctica at 7:30 p.m. on March 5 in the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall.
Written and performed by Edinburgh Fringe Festival Winner Aidan Dooley, this intimate piece of captivating theater re-enacts the heroic endeavors with a blend of drama, humor, and a rich Irish storytelling style that takes audiences to the edge of their seats and beyond.
Set during The Golden Age of Antarctic Exploration (1901-15), discover the riveting true stories of Sir Ernest Shackleton and Robert Scott through the eyes of Tom Crean, who was at the center of three of the most daring and challenging expeditions to the great white continent. This includes surviving for months trapped on floating ice after their ship was crushed by ice and sank.
During each performance the Monroe Arts Center’s highest priority is the health, wellness, and safety of all those who walk through our doors. In order to ensure your health and safety and that of all our guests and audiences, the Monroe Arts Center is reopening under the guidance of the Green County Public Health Department. All guests 5 years and older will be required to show proof of full vaccination with a physical vaccination card, a photograph of the card, or a digital vaccination record (with the last dose administered at least 14 days prior to the event) along with identification.
Children under the age of 5 will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours. All guests will be required to wear a face mask over their nose and mouth at all times.
