MILWAUKEE - The selection committee for the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship Program has announced recipients of the 2010 Herb Kohl Foundation awards for students and teachers. The $1,000 awards are being made to 100 teachers, their schools, and 200 graduating high school students.
Excellence Scholarship recipients have demonstrated excellence in the academic arena and high motivation to achieve, have displayed a broad range of activity and leadership outside the academic setting, and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond.
Excellence Scholars for CESA 2 include Clare Koopmans, Albany, Albany High School, and Brendan Pittman, New Glarus, New Glarus High School, and CESA 3, Jason Boll, Darlington, Darlington High School.
Initiative Scholarship recipients, chosen by their schools, have demonstrated exceptional initiative in the classroom and have shown strong promise for succeeding in college and beyond, but have not yet received other academic-based scholarships.
Initiative Scholars for CESA 2 are Briana Woods, Belleville, Belleville High School, and CESA 3, Savanna Kaster, Browntown, Black Hawk High School, South Wayne, and JoAnn Leitzinger, Shullsburg, Shullsburg High School.
The Kohl Foundation Scholarship and Fellowship program was established by U.S. Senator Herb Kohl in 1990. A regional recognition luncheon for CESAS 2 and 3 and for the South Central and Southwest regions will be held at a noon reception April 10 at Parker High School in Janesville.
