JUDA - Several members of the Juda FFA participated in the 81st Wisconsin FFA Convention June 15 to 17 at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison.

Joel Dieckhoff was one of 10 FFA members to participate in the State FFA Creed Speaking Contest. Participants had to recite the FFA Creed and answer three questions pertaining to the creed. Dieckhoff made it through the first round of competition and then competed in the finals against three other members. He placed second in the 2010 Wisconsin FFA Creed Speaking competition.

Todd Davis, McKayla Trotter, Megan Trotter and Tess Zettle participated in the FFA Honors Chorus during the convention. These students along with the other members of the Honors Chorus practiced most of June 15 and performed at the General Convention sessions that night, June 16, 17 and 18. This was the second year that Trotter has participated in the Honors Chorus, and she was chosen for the National FFA Honors Chorus.

Heather Boeke and Emily Seeling received their Wisconsin State FFA Degree June 16, having met the minimum qualifications to receive this fourth degree of active membership. Some of the qualifications include productively investing at least $1,500 or 1,000 work hours in their Supervised Agricultural Experience Program, participation in at least five FFA activities above the chapter level, a working knowledge of at least 10 parliamentary procedure abilities and completing at least 360 hours of agriculture education classes.

The Juda FFA Chapter was awarded the second highest percentage of membership in their school. Fifty-nine percent of the seventh- through 12th-grade students are FFA members at Juda. Only one chapter, the Randolph-Cambria Friesland Chapter, had a higher percentage in the state. This is the second year Juda has placed second in this award. Juda was also recognized for having 100 percent of their agriculture education students as dues-paying FFA members.

Kevin Becker received a fifth-place, gold-rated Proficiency Award in Diversified Horticulture. Bryan Cramer and Dylan Severson served as chapter delegates. During the convention they participated in the business session and also voted for the candidates that ran for state FFA office from Section V.
