Relay for Life contest asks youth for ‘Be a Superhero’ art
Slice 2

MONROE — This year’s Relay For Life of Green County event will be from 1 to 9 p.m. June 23 at SLICE Arena in Monroe.

“Be a Superhero” is the theme and all activities, campsites and laps will be focusing on this. A new activity is a coloring contest to help youth learn about cancer and share their talents in the effort against it. Many youths have family members or friends who have been affected and part of this activity is to provide a way for them to learn about what cancer is, prevention guidelines and how to deal with cancer when it affects them or a loved one.

Age categories include: 5 and under, 6-9, 10-13 and 14-18.

Entries should be on an 8.5-by-11-inch sheet of paper and focus on their interpretation of the theme to “Be a Superhero” and fight cancer. Entries can be done in ink, crayon, paints or other art mediums.

The side that has the artistic entry should just have the student’s first name and age. Detailed information should be on the back side of the entry and include the student’s name, age, parents’ names, address and a phone number. Please print legibly to help properly identify participants. Entries should not be computer generated and should reflect the youth’s individual talents.

Entries are due postmarked on June 11 and should be mailed to Darlene Arneson, 2056 Skaalen Road, Stoughton, WI 53589.

All entries become the property of the Relay For Life of Green County and can be used in all social media, publicity and use by the event. Judging will be done prior to the event and all entries will be displayed at the event.

Winners will be announced during a presentation at 6 p.m. at the Relay For Life event. Prizes will be awarded for the first- and second-place entries. Entries can be picked up at the event after 8:30 p.m. so they can be enjoyed by the participants. For ideas: Consider the power of superheroes and how they can use their powers to fight cancer.
