Plane lands in Illinois cornfield

HANOVER, Ill. — A plane was forced to land in a cornfield near Hanover Sunday morning.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of a plane that appeared to be in distress at South Steele Road and West Steele Road around 8:40 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office, Hanover and Elizabeth Fire and AirCare III of Dubuque searched the area for the plane. Sheriff’s deputies found the pilot on Illinois 84 near where the plane went down in a cornfield.

The pilot was treated for minor injuries by Elizabeth EMS.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
