County Judges appoint Buehl as Drainage Commissioner

MONROE — Judge Faun M. Phillipson and Judge Thomas J. Vale have announced that Kim Buehl, Monticello, has been appointed to a 3-year term as Drainage Commissioner effective Jan. 1, 2024.

Other members serving on the committee include John Dieckhoff of Brodhead and Tim Schmidt of Monroe.

Last indoor NG Farmers Market this Sunday

NEW GLARUS — This Sunday, Dec. 10 is the last New Glarus Indoor Farmers Market for the year. Visitors can make plans to stop by and see their favorite vendors for Christmas Gifts for family and friends. The market is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the New Glarus Village Community Room.  

Honey, spices, baked goods, jellies, jams, salsas, fall produce, squashes, local meats, jewelry, alpaca fiber goods, rag rugs and more products from vendors are available. 

The farmers market will return in May for the 2024 outdoor season.

Ice Age National Scenic Trail added to National Park System

WASHINGTON, D.C. — on Dec. 7, U.S. Congressmen Mark Pocan (WI-02) and Glenn Grothman (WI-06) applauded the National Park Service for designating the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and the North Country National Scenic Trail as units of the National Park System. This new status will increase funding and improve maintenance for these Wisconsin-based National Scenic Trails, and include them on official National Park Service maps.
