MONROE — Green County 4-H would not be possible without the support and involvement of youth leaders, adult volunteers, and supporters who work tirelessly to create a place for all youth to belong and succeed. This summer, 4-H gave out several awards to individuals, groups, or companies for their outstanding support of the Green County 4-H Program.
The Friend of 4-H, 4-H Volunteer of the Year, and 4-H Lifetime Volunteer awards were presented to individuals, groups, or companies that stood out as outstanding supporters of the Green County 4-H Program. This year, the Friend of 4-H Award was presented to the South Central WI Archers, the 4-H Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Ann Goers of Monticello, and the 4-H Lifetime Volunteer Award was presented to DarLyne Schneider of Monroe.
The 4-H Key Award is the highest award a 4-H member can receive in Wisconsin 4-H. It is awarded to youth who have shown consistent growth in their 4-H program, developed leadership ability, and been helpful to other members in their club and community. Sponsors of the Wisconsin 4-H Key Award program include the Wisconsin Farm Bureau and Rural Mutual Insurance Company. The Key Award recipients this year were Megan Leitner (Clarno), and Mallory Schmelzer (Spring Grove Honest Workers).
The Green County 4-H program is fortunate to be in the position to support the ongoing learning and growth of our members, as they proceed into post-secondary education. The 4-H Adult Leaders Scholarship ($250 each) recognizes youth’s engagement and achievements in the 4-H program. This year’s recipients were Gracyn Bolton (Next Generation), Megan Leitner (Clarno), and Nicholas Roe (Washington Center). The Cindi Miller Memorial Scholarship ($1,000 each) was established Cindi’s family continue sharing her love for 4-H, and her deep commitment to community involvement and recognizing this in youth. This year’s recipients were Drew Indergand (Washington Center), and Marissa Vosberg (Young Americans).
In addition to the awards and scholarships, Green County 4-H also wishes to recognize our 4-H graduates, who continued their 4-H involvement through high school graduation. The graduates that were recognized included: Hailey Beeman (Decatur), Gracyn Bolton (Next Generation), Maylee Brauer (New Horizons), Maxwell Cassis (New Glarus), Abbygail Foster (Next Generation), Deven Gilson (York), Cameron Hay (Dougherty Creek), Blake Hoesly (Next Generation), Drew Indergand (Washington Center), Megan Leitner (Clarno), Aiden Lynaugh (Next Generation), Matthew McCullough (Young Americans), Jackie Nusbaum (Next Generation), Camden Pryce (Jolly Mixers), Brett Ritschard (Clarno), Nicholas Roe (Washington Center), Mallory Schmelzer (Spring Grove Honest Workers), Austin Skibbe (Next Generation), Kaleb Welhouse (York), and Autumn Wolfe (Next Generation).
