SHULLSBURG - Friends of the Shullsburg Public Library will sponsor its annual used book sale, in conjunction with Shullsburg's annual Cheese Fest, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Townsend Community Center.
A preview event, "Friday for Friends," will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, and is open to Friends of the Shullsburg Library only. Membership forms will be available at the Friday preview event for those wishing to join and take advantage of the preview book sale.
Prices range from 50 cents to $1, with a special all-you-can-stuff in a grocery bag for $5, beginning at noon.
For the fifth year in a row, the Shullsburg Creamery will match, dollar-for-dollar, any money that is raised during the sale. Funds raised will be used to continue to purchase equipment, materials, computers, audio books, DVDs and books for the library's collection, in addition to funding other projects for continual library improvements.
"This event is one of the Friends most popular fundraisers," said Carol Stoudt, library director and chairman for the event. "Avid book bargain seekers pick up some great reading at excellent prices and the library benefits from the funds."
New and used items in good condition can be donated before the sale by bringing them to the library during regular business hours: Tuesday, noon to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, noon to 8 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon. Donations are tax deductible, so ask for a receipt.
For more information on donating books or on the sale, contact the library at (608) 965-4424, ext. 5. Volunteers are being asked to help staff the event as well.
