MONROE - The Green County Land and Water Conservation Department hosted the 2011 Southwest Wisconsin Land Judging on Sept. 29, at the farm of Ken and Diana Clark, Monroe. The event alternates between Grant, Green and Lafayette counties, with FFA students from area counties competing.

Approximately 165 students from 15 schools participated at this year's contest. FFA chapters from Albany, Belleville, Black Hawk, Monroe, Monticello and Pecatonica competed.
Area team award winners, which were the top three scores from a team of four students, were Monticello (fifth, 849 points), Monroe (sixth, 840 points), and Pecatonica (seventh, 823 points). Area individual award winners were Mark Jenson, Monroe (fourth, 317 points) and Travis Gilson, Pecatonica (sixth, 313 points).
