MONROE - In this year's Christmas Poster Contest, sponsored by Council 1471 of the Knights of Columbus, 176 posters were entered in grades 1 through 5.

Students from Abraham Lincoln, Northside, Parkside, and St. Victor entered with separate judging in each grade level. Winning posters from grades one to four will be forwarded for regional competition. Grade five is a local contest only. First-place winners and honorable mentions are as follows:

Grade 1, winning poster: Ava Scace, St. Victor, daughter of Mary DeZee and Darrell Scace. Honorable mention: Olivia Wiegel, Vaughn Barker, and Anna Garry, St. Victor; and Delaney Wickstrum, Parkside.

Grade 2, winning poster: Owen Smith, St. Victor, son of C.J. and Lara Smith. Honorable mention: Maddison Markham, Ben Moon, and Kourtney Walter, St. Victor; and Kaitlynn Pivonka-Johnson, Parkside.

Grade 3, winning poster: Auburn VonKaenel, St. Victor, daughter of Jerry and Heidi VonKaenel. Honorable mention: Allison Brennan, and Chloe Bunker, St. Victor; Laurel Houston, Grace Mathiason, Kelli Polnow, and Katie Kelly, Parkside

Grade 4, winning poster: Gabe Witt, St. Victor, son of John and Heidi Witt. Honorable mention: Gabe Moon, Hunter Huschitt, Grant Gogin, and Anna Latimer, St. Victor; Lauren Hlubek and Garret Schroeder, Northside; Lexi Davis, Parkside; and Xena Meighan, Abraham Lincoln.

Grade 5, winning poster: Sydney Mathiason, Parkside, daughter of Sam and Ellen Mathiason. Honorable mention: Alysha Witt, Abraham Lincoln; Parris Bunker, Miriam Seitz, Ally Einbeck, and Skye Allen, St. Victor.
