Army National Guard Pvt. Joshua J. Tourdot has graduated from the Automated Logistical Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va. The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, materiel control, accounting and support reports, automated and manual accounting records; perform stock record/warehouse functions pertaining to receipt, storage, distribution and issue and maintain equipment records and parts; review and verify bills of lading, contracts, and purchase orders; repair and construct shipping crates for equipment and supplies, and perform prescribed loads and shop stock lists in manual and automated supply applications. Tourdot, a 2006 graduate of Darlington High School, is the son of Linda L. and stepson of Gary R. Bald of Darlington.
Army Spec. Michael D. McPhail has been decorated with the Good Conduct Medal. The medal is awarded to enlisted individuals who depict and demonstrate exemplary conduct, bearing and behavior while serving on active military service. Recipients of the medal must have completed a three-year period of active military service, or a one-year period during wartime, to receive the award.
McPhail is an international rifle shooter/instructor assigned to the U.S. Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The specialist has served in the Army for more than three years. He started rifle shooting in 1996, and since 2006 has won numerous shooting championship titles both in individual and team competition. Additional military awards and decorations include the National Defense Medal, Sharpshooter Rifle Badge, Sharpshooter Grenade Badge and Accessories Support Brigade Soldier, and the International Distinguished Badge.
The specialist is the son of Dennis J. McPhail and Joyce M. Mitchell of Darlington. He is the husband of Kari L. McPhail. In 2000, the soldier graduated from Darlington High School.
