Hodgson named 2020 Friend of Extension

MONROE — Ken Hodgson, Argyle, Green County Board member, was presented with the 2020 Friend of Extension Award on Dec. 21 at the Extension Green County office. The award was started in 1990 by the Green County University of Wisconsin-Extension office to recognize individuals that have provided outstanding support towards conducting UW-Extension educational programs in the county.

Hodgson was a member of the Green County Board of Supervisors for 14 years and served on the Ag and Extension Committee for his entire term. During the last six years, he was the chair of the Ag and Extension Committee. As a member and chair of the Ag and Extension Committee, Hodgson provided support in educational and research programs including Community Resource Development, Family Living and Nutrition, 4-H Youth Development, Health and Well-Being, and Agriculture and Natural Resources. Hodgson supported Extension by helping promote the Wisconsin Idea by encouraging educators to bring UW resources to Green County for their programs. Hodgson retired from the board in April.

Hodgson recognized the importance of quality education, and the impact it can make in the lives of individuals and communities. As a member/chair of the Agricultural and Extension Committee, he had been instrumental in helping to build and maintain a strong UW-Extension office in Green County. His leadership and support of UW-Extension in

Green County has allowed the local UW-Extension office to remain responsive to the current and emerging community needs in Green County.
