HCE awards Cultural Arts projects

MONROE - The Green County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) recently held its annual Cultural Arts Competition at the Justice Center, Monroe. All HCE members were encouraged to enter their projects in the Cultural Arts event.

Thirteen HCE members entered 44 items, ranging from written essays, photography, textile projects to wood and cement items.

HCE members who entered items were: Joyce Anderson, Beth Campbell, Linda Eakins, Ursula Meier, Kathryn Hanson, Ruth Hanson, Kris Winkler, Kathy Weaver, Nancy Signer, Mary Ann Krebs, Lynn Lokken, Ella Sanderson, and Janet Gobeli.

Seven items were chosen to represent Green County HCE at the State HCE conference in September. Members whose items qualified for state were: Kathy Weaver, Kris Winkler, Janet Gobeli, and Mary Ann Krebs.

Nancy Signer's woven rug won the "People's Choice Award" in the heritage skill category.
