MONROE - The Green County Genealogical Research Center is located in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library.
The Center has many resources to help people learn about their family history. Among the resources available are: Green County birth, death, and marriage indexes and extractions, cemetery and burial records and indexes, township records and county and state histories.
Also available are resources for surrounding counties, other states and countries as well as genealogy how-to books and family genealogies.
The Center is open to the public for research from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and third Saturdays. The second and fourth Tuesdays the hours now are extended until 8 p.m.
The Research Center also is open from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday of the month after the monthly meeting and by appointment.
The GCGS meetings are held on the first Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. in the second floor meeting room of the library. Visitors are welcome to attend the meetings at no charge.
