MONROE - Five Green County youth were recently selected to receive scholarships from the annual Dairy Youth Recognition Auction Scholarship program. Scholarships are funded through proceeds garnered from the Green County Dairy Youth Recognition Auction, held in conjunction with the Cheese Auction conducted by the Foreign Type Cheesemakers Association at the county fair.

Scholarships were awarded on the basis of information provided by the applicant that included their involvement in the dairy project, leadership skills they gained in 4-H and FFA and their future career goals. An applicant must be a senior in high school or enrolled in secondary education to be eligible for this scholarship. The applicant must also be an active Green County dairy project member in 4-H or FFA. Scholarships do not require that youth go into a dairy-related career.

A total of $3,500 was distributed this year by the Dairy Youth Auction Committee. Receiving Dairy Youth scholarships were: Amber Dammen, daughter of Gary and Amy Dammen, Argyle; Rachael Schieldt, daughter of Greg and Michelle Schieldt, New Glarus; Paige Hoesly, daughter of Todd and Tricia Hoesly, Brodhead; Paige Dilley, daughter of Steve and Teresa Dilley, Monticello; and Ryan Smith, son of Randall and Jane Smith, Monticello.

These youth will be formally recognized at the 2015 Green County Dairy Youth Auction to be held on July 26, during the Green County Fair.
