Fire dept. to hold 108th anniversary celebration

NEW GLARUS - The New Glarus Fire Department will celebrate its 108th anniversary Saturday, July 31, at the New Glarus Fire Station.

A full day of activities are scheduled.

• 10:30 a.m., food stand opens; fire truck rides begin; kids fire house and kids water fights

• Noon, Bucket Brigade

• 1 p.m., firefighter/adult water fights

• 3 p.m., sparring (boxing) featuring local talent

• 3 to 7 p.m., music by The Greenfield Brothers

• 5 p.m., steak fry begins until all are served

• 8 p.m. to midnight, music by Electric Blue

• 11 p.m., raffle drawing

• Midnight, festivities conclude

All activities in the morning and afternoon are free. The steak feed is $12 per person. Raffle tickets are $1 for one ticket or a book of six tickets for $5. Raffle prizes include the Grand Prize, a Red Streak Metro Duo scooter; first prize, a Metro Retro scooter; second prize, a handmade patriot quilt; third prize, two night stay at the Chalet Landhaus; and fourth prize, $75.
