MONROE — Those who wish to learn more about 4-H in Green County can do so at the Explore 4-H Day.
The event will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Green County Fairgrounds. This is a free event where anyone can learn more about 4-H.
Interested youth and their families may talk with current 4-H members, learn about different 4-H projects, discover how to make a difference in their communities and get information to enroll. The common misconception that 4-H is only for “farm kids” will be addressed. More than half of Green County 4-H members last year were those who lived in cities, towns or non-farm areas and exhibited in projects.
The 4-H program is open to youth in 5 year old kindergarten through one year past high school. Green County has 17 clubs to choose from that vary in size, meeting time and location. To be eligible to exhibit at the 2020 Green County Fair, 4-H members must be enrolled by Nov. 1.
