MONROE - There are resources in our own backyards that not only support new business but provide services that can augment existing business marketing efforts.

One of those resources is Greenco Industries. On Monday, May 3, the Green County Area Entrepreneurs and Inventors will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Greenco Industries, 1601 4th Avenue W. The evening event is free and open to the public. Refreshments are available.

Jean Zweifel, executive director of Greenco Industries, will share what this facility can provide in services for entrepreneurs and small businesses. Over the years, Zweifel's staff has directed the clients in a vast array of services - from assembling machine parts to sewing bras for prisoners, filling toothpaste tubes to unwrapping and rewrapping products. And bulk-mailing services are something that Greenco can provide.

Zweifel will conduct a tour of the facilities and share the resources her clients offer at Greenco.

She will take attendees through the process of contracting with Greenco, the guarantees they provide for their work and share some testimonials from local businesses that have used Greenco's services.

Greenco Industries was begun in 1964 in Monroe to provide part-time services for children and adults with disabilities.

In 1992, Greenco moved to its present facilities and changed its focus to include production-based vocational training.

The facility currently includes 54,000 square feet and includes loading docks, a clean room, 4,500 square feet of cooler space and storage areas, in addition to a cafeteria area, meeting rooms and administrative and staff offices.

The Green County Area Entrepreneurs and Inventors is an informational forum where entrepreneurs, inventors, new businesses and people thinking about starting their own businesses can come together to encourage each other and share challenges and encouragement.

The group meets on a monthly basis, usually the first Monday of the month.

More information about the group is available on the GCDC Web site at www.GreenCountyEDC.com or by e-mailing gcdc@tds.net or calling 328-9452.
