MONTICELLO - Donations are being accepted for Santa's Workshop, the annual tradition for Monticello-area families.
Santa will be visiting the Monticello Fire Department on Dec. 13 and his elves will set up a store for local children to "buy" gifts for their family and friends all by themselves.
Donations of new or like-new gift items are requested so that the children can buy with tickets, purchased by parents for a nominal donation. Donations do not need to be extravagant and should be appropriate for children to give to their parents, grandparents and maybe siblings. Small tools and "manly" gifts are most popular with the kids and hardest to come by. Other popular items were mugs, frames, knick-knacks and bath/body goodies, including lotions, fragrance, candles. Donations of Christmas wrapping paper, gift bags, Scotch tape, tags and gift bags are also needed.
No child will be turned away for lack of funds. Money from ticket sales and donations is used to purchase supplies needed for the Workshop, and all profits go directly to the Monticello Area Christmas Stocking Fund.
Donations for Santa's Workshop can be dropped off at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave.; Washington Reformation UCC, N6026 Church Road; or at Tri-Insure, 145 N Main St.
For more information or for donation pick up, contact Julie Ruegsegger at 608-558-2397 or Kathleen Grossen at 608-558-1588.
