Covered Bridge Days set for this weekend

BRODHEAD - Covered Bridge Days is set for Friday through Sunday. Covered Bridge Days is a Brodhead Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event.

Saturday events that will be held downtown include: a fun run/walk at 8 a.m. on Sugar River Trail; Jaycee's kid run at 11 a.m.; historic wagon tours held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; all day softball tournament at Legion Park; and all day Jaycee sand volleyball at Jaycee Park. A street dance will be held downtown from 8 p.m. to midnight. Wildflower Festival, an art festival in Veterans Park, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Embrace the Race exhibit and boat rides will be held on Mill Race from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. DNR Aquarium, a live fish display, will also be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday near the old water tower.

Brodhead will be hosting the Civil War reenactment, First Brigade Band, who originated in Brodhead in 1912, from 4:30 and 6 p.m. The concert will feature music played on instruments from that era.

Events held Saturday on the south end include: horse show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; saw mill demo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; vintage snowmobile display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; children's toy tractor pull at 11 a.m.; hand-led pony rides from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; antique tractor pull at 1 p.m.; garden tractor pull at 1 p.m.; and antique tractor drive at 4 p.m.

Downtown Sunday events include: Old Fashioned Church service at 9 a.m. and Concert in the Park featuring Brodhead City Band at 6 p.m.

Area park Sunday events include: a marshmallow roast from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in Putnam Park; native plant tour from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. in Putnam Park; and all day softball tournament in Legion Park.

Sunday south end events include: classic car and motorcycle show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; vintage snowmobile display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; saw mill demo from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; tractor show thresheree starts at 9 a.m. and will be held all day; hand-led pony rides from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; horse show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; garden tractor show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; antique tractor pull at 1 p.m.; and garden tractor pull at 1 p.m. The parade will start at noon beginning at E. 3rd Avenue and 19th Street.
