Monroe Clinic reports that, for now, it has enough supplies and capacity to care for patients.

MONROE — Monroe Clinic will sponsor a ‘Mental Health First Aid’ training on Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 625 Country Lane Drive, Lena.

Similar to ‘First Aid’ and CPR, ‘Mental Health First Aid’ teaches community members how to help those experiencing mental health challenges or crises. The training takes place from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. with registration starting at 7:30 a.m.

Mental health challenges — including depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use — are common among teenagers in the United States. Twenty percent of the adolescent population live with a mental health condition, but only 50 percent will ever receive the help they need.

This training clinic is designed to provide community members with the necessary knowledge and skills to help individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
