BTC set to hold business seminar

MONROE - The "Your Keys to Business Success" seminar will be held at 6 p.m. April 17 at the Enterprise Center at Blackhawk Technical College, 210 4th Ave., Monroe.

The seminar is a two-hour coaching session for local business owners and potential new entrepreneurs and has been touring the region over the past six months. The session will highlight the opportunities and challenges facing small-business owners and entrepreneurs, as well as introduce the free resource partners available to assist these individuals.

The session will focus on business planning, marketing, access to capital, cash flow management and legal guidelines. The seminar is led by Bob Jones, Cuba City's economic development director and Lafayette Development Corporation executive director, and features other economic development professionals, local lending institutions and business advisors. Jones is a Small Business Administration Certified Business Consultant and has assisted in the successful launch of more than 100 small businesses.

Prosperity Southwest Wisconsin is the sponsor for the series, which already has been held in Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, Dodgeville and Darlington. This is the first time that business development classes have been held in a series across Prosperity's six-county service area.

Future topics and classes are being considered and will include marketing, cash flow management and business planning.
