BRODHEAD - Steven Apfelbaum, the owner and lead ecologist of Applied Ecological Services, Inc. - an internationally-recognized ecological restoration company in Brodhead - recently contributed to another book that will help to explain more intelligent ways to manage the environment.
The "Handbook of Regenerative Landscape Design: Integrative Studies in Water Management and Land Development," was recently published by CRC Press. Apfelbaum coauthored a chapter dubbed, "Extreme Projects: Ecological Restoration Needs to Address Altered Ecosystems at Larger Spatial Scales."
The chapter highlights the unique challenges that extreme projects can present by providing specific examples where a direct link exists between the well-being of people and the health of ecosystems.
