JANESVILLE - The area's new theatre group, Bower City Theatre Company, opens its first production, "Jesus Christ Superstar," April 16-24 at the Janesville Performing Arts Center, 408 S. Main St., Janesville.

A special ticket price for the April 16 show, all seats are only $14. For all other performances, tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for students. Tickets are available at the JPAC box office or by phone (608) 758-0297.

As relevant and timeless as ever, this rock opera version of the greatest story ever told is, "as much for our troubled time as it was when it was first produced," says director Jim Tropp.

Set in two acts, Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of the final seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Superstar dramatizes Jesus' entry in Jerusalem, the unrest caused by his preaching and popularity, his betrayal by Judas, the trial before Pontius Pilate, and his ultimate crucifixion.

The production is directed by Jim Tropp, choreographed by Carlynn Fitzgerald and music is directed by Cindy Blanc.
