FREEPORT — The Northwest Illinois Audubon Society will hold its monthly meeting Sept. 4 at St. John United Church of Christ, Freeport. The program begins with a potluck at 6 p.m., followed by a short business meeting and live performance of two American White Pelicans.  Presented by Karen Herdklotz, Executive Director at Hoo Haven in Durand, Illinois, this program called “Pelican Ambassadors” gives participants the chance to see the birds up close and learn about their demeanor. Attendees will also hear about environmental changes that affect pelicans.

The meeting is open to everyone.  Those who wish to eat should bring a dish to pass and table service.  Beverages are provided by Audubon. The program is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m. Questions may be directed to Teresa at 815-238-3963.
