BTC to host info session Friday
MONROE - The public is invited to attend a local session community information session from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 25 at the Monroe campus of Blackhawk Technical College.
The session is one of a series of seven that BTC is hosting in Rock and Green counties in the weeks ahead. Participants can visit individually with college representatives from career advising, financial aid and admissions; attend a free workshop on career planning and advanced technical training; and begin the college admission and application for financial aid in preparation for summer or fall classes.

Blue Banners are available at Legion
MONROE - It's an American tradition to display a Blue Star Banner in the window of a home when a loved one is serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. As Americans support troops deployed overseas in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, the Blue Banner is a reminder that war touches every neighborhood.
Blue Star banners are available to families in the Monroe area by calling Janet Thompson at (608) 325-6558 or Rosie Wenger at (608) 325-6364.
The American Legion also offers Blue Star Banner corporate flags to corporations and government organizations wanting to show support to employees actively serving in the National Guard or reserve.
Lena
Le-Win to stage 'Sound of Music'
LENA- Lena-Winslow High School will present the musical, "The Sound of Music," at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 25, at the Lena-Winslow Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Tickets are available from cast members, the high school office, and at the door.
The price is $5 for adults and $3 for students. The musical is directed by Scott and Lisa Stitch and Marilyn Strohecker.
The play takes place on the eve of the German takeover of Captain Von Trapp's beloved Austria. It features well-known songs such as "Do-Re-Mi", "My Favorite Things", and Climb Every Mountain," sung by cast members to the accompaniment of the high school pit orchestra.
The cast features veteran Catie Kuckes as Maria, the governess who falls in love with the lord of the manor; Allie Long, also in her third production, as the wise Mother Abbess; veteran Tyler Bussian as Captain Von Trapp; Logan Krogall as the wily musical agent, Max Detweiller; and four-year veteran Emily Stich as Elsa Schrader. The Von Trapp children are played by Credence Stouffer, Sean Corey, Alexis Graf, Paxton Kempel, Carson Diddens, Bailey Graf and Allyson Milder. Connor Daws is the love interest and telegraph delivery boy, Rolf.
Darlington
LC Dem meeting set for March 29
DARLINGTON - The Lafayette County Democratic Party will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 29 at Annie's Bar and Grill, Darlington.
This is a change of date from the group's April meeting. There will be no meeting on April 5. Jake Hajdu, organizing director for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin will be the guest speaker. Potential candidates for the 2012 election for state assembly may also attend.
The meeting is open to the public.

Church conference set for April 16
JUDA - Pilgrims Covenant Church will hold its annual spring conference beginning at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Community Center in Juda.
This year's theme is "The Puritan Way" and speakers will be Pastor David Carson, Chester, England; Pastor Timothy Williams, Woodstock, Ill.; Alastair Matthews, Sheboygan; and Pastor Ralph Ovadal, Monroe.

Senior citizen prom is April 8
BRODHEAD - The Brodhead High School student council will host a Senior Citizen Prom from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 8 at the school.
The prom is Katie McGuire's senior project. The Bill Korst four-piece combo, Nickelodeon, will play music from the 30s and 40s. There will be food, a royalty presentation, dancing and prizes.
The Senior Citizen Prom, an annual event is free and no reservations required. The prom is open to all senior citizens in the area.

German group to meet April 4
JANESVILLE - The German Interest Group will meet at 7 p.m., Monday, April 4 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 2921 Mt. Zion Ave., Janesville.
The guest speaker will be Doug Cameron, whose lecture will be "My Love Affair with Germany: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly." He will give an autobiographical account of his impressions and experiences living and traveling in Germany. Cameron is a retired teacher.
