Former teacher turns 90 years old
ST. CHARLES, MO - Hope L. Fowler is turning 90 on Wednesday, Oct. 12. She was a teacher in the Lena-Winslow school district for more than 30 years and a long-time resident of Winslow, Ill. No formal celebration is planned, but she would enjoy hearing from old friends and former students.

One-act plays due date set for Dec. 20
ORANGEVILLE - The Northwestern Illinois Theater Coalition (Mighty Richland Players, Back Street Players, Plum River Playhouse) is planning the 2012 production of "The Cheddar Curtain."
The group seeks one-act plays by authors from northwest Illinois and southwest Wisconsin. The plays should run between 20-30 minutes and have a regional setting. Plays may be historical, biographical, factual or pure fiction. The coalition selection committee will chose four plays based on local interest and entertainment value. Plays must be submitted by Dec. 20. Final selections will be made Jan. 5. "The Cheddar Curtain" will open in February, 2012, and play all three theaters.

Homecoming court members named
ALBANY - The Albany Homecoming court was recently named.
Members are junior representative Julia Farley, senior representative Jordan Neuenschwander, senior representative Jessica Mauerman, sophomore representative Bailey Hlavachek, freshman representative Felicia Caldwell, junior representative Austin Ross, senior representative Gavin Ruef, senior representative Ty Mauerman, sophomore representative Ethan Pfeuti, and freshman representative Brennan Bloedel.
Crowning of the king and queen will be during the homecoming pep assembly, which will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, in the high school gym. The Homecoming parade leaves the school at 2:30 p.m. and will end at the Legion Park. The homecoming dance, "Bikini Bottom Paradise," will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 8, in the elementary gym.

Culver's to host benefit for EIE fund
MONTICELLO - Culver's of New Glarus will host a benefit for the Monticello Excellence in Education Fund (EIE) from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.
Twenty percent of total sales between 5 to 8 p.m. will be donated to directly benefit Monticello students. Last year's total donation was $743.59.
Monticello EIE, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, was established in 2006 to support projects and programs that enhance learning at Monticello Schools. Proceeds from the benefit night will be used to fund special activities and projects that are not otherwise funded through the regular school budget.

Lego Club to meet on Nov. 5
MONROE - The Monroe Lego Clubs will be organizing two free, informal building sessions this fall, for anyone who loves to design and play with Legos and connect with other Lego enthusiasts.
The sessions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 3, in the Community Room of the Monroe Public Library.
Please note that parents are responsible for their own children, and all participants 10 years old and under must have a parent or guardian present.
Attendees are encouraged not to bring their own Legos, as Legos will be provided to use during the sessions. However, feel free to bring one of your favorite Lego projects you made to share
in the "viewing gallery" during the sessions.
