Mission Festival slated for Oct. 9

MONROE - Mt. Olive Evangelical Church, 1603 16th Ave., Monroe, will celebrate a Mission Festival in its regular service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9.

The service will emphasize the home and world mission programs of the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod. Guest speaker for the festival service will be Prof. Kenneth Cherney, World Mission Seminary Professor at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon.

Show auditions begin today

FREEPORT - The Winneshiek Players will hold auditions for "It's a Wonderful Life: Live from Winneshiek Radio" at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 and Tuesday, Oct. 4, in the Winneshiek Playhouse, 228 W. Clark St., Freeport. All roles are open.

"It's a Wonderful Life: Live from Winneshiek Radio" is a reimagining of the American film as a live radio broadcast.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. No previous theatrical experience is necessary. Actors cast will read multiple roles. Production and backstage crew members are also needed.

AARP to offer driver safety class

MONROE - AARP will offer a free driver's safety class for veterans, as well as spouses and children, from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, Nov. 4 at Behring Senior Center, 1113 10th St., Monroe.

Attendees must bring their DD-214 paper or service card. Participants who do not have these will fill out a form at the class.To sign up, call the Behring Senior Center at (608) 325-3173.

Fire Dept. Hold'em Tourney is Nov. 12

JUDA - The Juda Fire Department will host its Feather Party Texas Hold'em Tournament at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.

Admission costs $1. There will be prizes, including a door prize of $50.
